Minutes of the Meeting of the Prince Edward Radio Club August 13th 2015


ATTENDANCE:

Al Law VE3FZ, Art Sinclair VE3SQG, David Beach VE3STI, Doug Monk VE3ZDG, Ian Morrison VE3EP, Joe La Ferla VA3JLF, Matthew Dwight VE3OCC, Peter Hodgson VE3UR, Tim Pekkonen VE3UO

CALL TO ORDER:

The meeting was called to order by President Art VE3SQG at 7:30 pm.

OPERATING ACTIVITIES:

- Ian VE3EP indicated since it was summber there is nothing going on.

- Doug VE3ZDG said the Herb Hilgenberg has retired. There is a new person VE3UP providing marine weather forcasting that use to be done by Herb.

- Doug VE3ZDG talked about 993CountyFM. The station has received and installed a 20Kw generator to power the studio in the event of a power failure. Greg Schatzmann VE3CH had a tour of the studio and transmitter. A polyphase lighting arrester was connected on the studio tower.

- Al VE3FZ can't find his charger for the handheld which he needs to get on the air from his new home in Picton.


MINUTES:

It was moved by David VE3STI and seconded by Peter VE3UR that the minutes of the July 9th meeting be accepted. CARRIED

NEW BUSINESS:

Art VE3SQG talk about the upcoming picnic to be held on August 15th from 2pm. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be supplied. No rain is in the forecast.

Doug VE3ZDG indicated there is no news on what is happening with the fire hall at the Picton airport. Plans have been released for the new fire hall to be relocated to the industrial section in Picton.

Ian VE3EP indicated that there may me issues with the PA on the VE3TJU repeater and it is only putting out about 70watts. It might be the finals are unsoldering themselves.

ARES:

- Doug talked about the ARES exercise in Napanee held on Thursday August 13th. Five sites were activated. The results were good. The antenna at the town hall was tested but access to the equipment was not available since the key to the cabinet could not be found. The EOC was moved from the current location on commercial drive and setup at the secondary one in Roblin.

CLOSING:

- The President closed meeting at 8:15pm.
