Minutes of the Meeting of the Prince Edward Radio Club February 12th 2015
ATTENDANCE: Art VE3SQG, Al VE3FZ, Matthew VE3OCC, Ian VE3EP, Doug VE3ZDG, Joe VA3JLF, Tim VE3UO, Dave VE3UGT, Bill VE3WOW, CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by President Art VE3SQG at 7:33 pm OPERATING ACTIVITIES: - Joe VA3JLF made 2 contact with K1N Navassa island Dxpedition. He also had a run of success with JT65. - Ian VE3EP said he his now upto date with his QSL cards. - Doug VE3ZDG “pissed” off the County fire chief. Doug Believed heat was off in the fire hall when it was only the door to the repeater room being closed with a cold east wind causing the drop in temperature. - Al VE3FZ indicated that he there was long pileups trying to work K1N. K1N has had over 110,000 contacts. MINUTES: It was moved by Ian VE3EP and seconded by Joe VA3JLF that the minutes of the November 13th meeting be accepted. CARRIED NEW BUSINESS: - Al VE3FZ read both the quarterly and yearly financial reports. See attached. - 18th Annual Ontario QSO party take place on April 18th. See www.va3cco.com/opq/ for details. - The 2015 Dues ($25) are due. Please see Al VE3FZ. - It was proposed that we donate $100 to the library for use of the library meeting room. Moved by Doug VE3ZDG and seconded by Dave VE3UGT. Passed. - Steve Pengelly VE3STV from Bath has joined the club. Welcome Steve. - Doug VE3ZDG indicated that the Prince Edward Yacht Club was booked for Dec 5th for the annual PERC Christmas party. It was decided that the date and venue was good. - Jim Dean VE3IQ is now a silent key. Jim served Canadian amateurs both nationally and internationally. - Joe VE3JLF indicated that the IRPL node will chase its tail when connected to an Echo Link reflector. This is caused by the tail/courtesy beep. This does not effect normal IRPL connections. If a connection to an Echo Link Reflector is needed the tail/courtesy beep can be turned off by using the code 100220 and turned back on by using 100221. ARES: - Doug VE3ZDG indicated that Kingston ARES has replaced its equipment at the Kingston Red Cross after experiencing a lighting strike. A test between the Belleville and Kingston Red Cross will need to be arranged. CLOSING: - The President closed meeting at 8:32pm.
