Minutes of the Meeting of the Prince Edward Radio Club November 13th 2014


ATTENDANCE:

Art VE3SQG, Al VE3FZ, Dave VE3UGT, Joe VA3JLF, Ian VE3EP, Peter VE3UR, Tim VE3UO, Dave VE3BIP, David VE3STI, Doug VE3ZDG

CALL TO ORDER:

- The meeting was called to order by President Art VE3SQG at 7:37 pm

OPERATING ACTIVITIES:

- Al VE3FZ reported he had a QSO with the FT4TA expedition on Tromelin Island.

- Joe VA3JLF reported a QSO with FO8AA CORA CLUB OCEANIEN DE RADIO ET ASTRONOMIE celebrating its 80th anniversary.

- Doug VE3ZDG reported that the Ham Radio Course had graduated nine new hams, 8 with HF privileges and one with VHF.

MINUTES:

- It was moved by Ian VE3EP and seconded by Joe VA3JFL that the minutes of the October meeting be accepted. CARRIED

NEW BUSINESS:

-Treasurer Al VE3FZ noted that an invoice for the RAC insurance for the amount of $240.86 had been received and that he would be issuing a cheque for that amount.

-Art VE3SQG reported that as a result of the change in Directors due to Kevin VA3THB leaving the area, Joe La Ferla VA3JLF was appointed as a Director and he will fill the position of Vice President.

-President Art VE3SQG then asked Doug VE3ZDG for an update on County FM.

-The power at the station was reduced power while Rogers employees were working on the tower to install a microwave link. There had also been a problem with the audio processor shutting down the station when classical music was played. Matthew and Doug solved the problem by disabling the processor. Several members gave reception reports re reception in Campbellford through to Stirling.

-Art VE3SQG noted that a wreath from PERC was laid at the Picton Cenotaph, and asked if anyone new the source of the wreath as PERC had not purchased on. Doug VE3ZDG said that he has purchased the wreath for several years.

-The PERC Christmas dinner will be held on December 6th at the PEYC the price is yet to be determined but should be between $25 and $30 per person. email Doug if you wish to attend.

-David VE3STI asked if anyone was interested in a kit building project during the winter.

Several members were interested and the group will make suggestions re what the project could be.

-It was agreed by the members present that there will be no December meeting.

-The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm
