Minutes of the Meeting of the Prince Edward Radio Club September 19th 2013

ATTENDANCE: Eric VA3EP, Kevin VA3THB, Al VE3FZ, Peter VE3UR, Art VE3SQG, Doug VE3ZDG, Ian VE3EP,Joe VA3JLF, Aaron VE3UDA, Peter VA3ORJ, Tim VE3UO

The meeting was called to order by President Art VE3SQG at 7:27 pm

ACTIVITY REPORT

Joe VA3JLF reported that he has a tower up the antenna is a Mosley MP33 with a WARC kit, and a Windom for 80 & 40 metres. He also made a contact with St. Vincent and participated in the worked all Europe contest. The rotor needs to be aligned, for use with a rotor interface made in Germany. The tower work was done by MacFarlane Antennas.

Doug VE3ZDG reported that the community Radio is proceeding through the licence process, and reported that EMO is now part of the Fire Marshalls Office. The provincial SET will be held on October 26th 2013.

It was moved by Doug VE3ZDG and seconded by Eric VA3EP that the minutes of the August 15th meeting be accepted. CARRIED

TREASURERS REPORT

Treasurer Al VE3FZ reported that the RAC Insurance was due, and that the third quarter Financial Report will be given at the October meeting.

It was moved by Doug VE3ZDG that “The club renew its liability insurance with RAC”

NEW BUSINESS

Art VE3SDG noted that there had been some discussion at the QARC meeting re having an Auction.

Ian VE3EP noted that if the members of PERC did not have enough merchandise to auction there would not be much profit for the club. The status of Fred VE3FGA equipment was not known as the club did not have a copy of the list.

Doug VE3ZDg reported that he had been approached about operating a station for Thinking Day on the Air (TDOTA) the Girl Guide equivalent of the Scouts Jamboree on the Air. Thinking Day is celebrated on February 22 each year, and in 2014 it will be a Saturday. Doug will provide more information as it becomes available.

After the business meeting Eric VA3EP made a presentation to the club about RF levels and the Canadian Standard for RF exposure
