The meeting was called to order by President Art VE3SQG at 7:30 pm
GUEST Art introduced a guest Cliff VE3YAB and a new PERC Member Dave VE3OPL.
ACTIVITY REPORT There was some discussion of over the air digital TV reception. Peterborough went digital May 16th and Kingston will go digital soon.
MINUTES It was moved by Doug VE3ZDG and seconded by Matt VE3OCC that the minutes of the April meeting be accepted . CARRIED NEW BUSINESS Art VE3SQG reminded the members that there would be a CANWARN weather watchers training session held at 10:00 am on May 25th at the Belleville Library. If you are going to attend please inform Jeff Coulson at Environment Canada at canwarn.ontario@ec.gc.ca
FIELD DAY Several members made a field trip to Ameliasburg Fair Grounds, and have selected suitable locations for the stations to be set up. The station will be class 3 A ONE this is a new designation indicating ONtario East. A Roast Beef evening meal will be catered by the Quinte Flywheels at a cost of $15.00 per person for those who wish to participate. Please contact Dave VE3UGT if you are planning to attend the meal as the organizers need numbers for the caterer.
The following set up tasks were assigned to members present: Amateur Radio Pamphlet Peter VE3UR Display Peter VE3UR Field Day Message to Section Manager Doug VE3ZDG Copy ARRL Message can be copied starting on Friday VHF Station Matt VE3OCC Digital Station Brian VA3BRW & Lee VA3LHM Fuel for Generator not assigned Warning Tape not assigned Set up will be 2:00 pm Friday EQUIPMENT FOR SALE/DONATION VE3NG has donated about 400ft of heliax, it is at the repeater site. There are also some smaller pieces available for members. Some donated radio equipment and a box of donated coax were available for members. These items sold for a total of $100 If possible some or all of the stations may use battery power, to eliminate the need for extension cords from a generator.
