Minutes of Prince Edward Radio Club – January 5th 2012

Art VE3SQG called the meeting to order at 7:40 pm
OPERATING ACTIVITY Joe VE3JLF spoke about improving antenna performance. Dave VE3UGT reported that a switch at Huffs Island sub-station had failed, and after it’s replacement his noise level had dropped. Ian reported that he had participated in the RAC Winter Contest and had contacted all but four of the RAC stations. Joe VE3JLF spoke about the SDR project some members are participating in, and Al VE3FZ reported he had built a SoftRock 40 and noted that good tools are essential for that kind of project. Approval of minutes meeting December 1st 2011. Peter VA3ORU reported that his callsign was given as VE3ORU in the December minutes. Moved: Kevin VA3THB Seconded: Peter VA3ORU “That the minutes be accepted as amended”. CARRIED
FINANCIAL REPORT Treasurer Al VE3FZ presented the Treasurers reports for the Fourth Quarter 2011 and the Year End 2011. (Attached) It was moved by Ian VE3EP “That the Financial Reports be accepted” seconded by Matthew VA3OCC. CARRIED
ARES Report Bill VA3WOW announced that for 2012 Rod Ellis is Deputy DC for Loyalist District. He noted that the new District Operations Manual sets out common ground for working with other groups. Doug VE3ZDG reported that there will be a Prince Edward County exercise in 2012.
NEW BUSINESS The members present thanked Doug VE3ZDG for his work organising the Christmas Party. All attendees had a good time. Doug said that the caterer had offered to host the party next year in her own premises if the club was interested in a change of venue. Doug will report back on this option to the membership There is now a professional Tower Climber available in Picton: Ian Beaumont 9 Eyre Picton 613 476-2589
