OPERATING ACTIVITIES:

 

-General bemoaning about the lack of sunspots however notwithstanding;

- VE3FZ got a card from Monk Apollo at Mount Athos

-VE3OX worked India for the first time

-VA3BRW worked Brazil on RTTY with his vertical

so maybe things aren't so bad after all.

MISS SUPERTEST PROJECT:

 

PERC is going to run a special event station at the 50th celebration of the Miss Supertest wins. It will be at a hangar on the old airport property high above Picton the weekend of Aug 6-8. VE3EP is the co-ordinator. A special event callsign, CG3TEST has been obtained. VE3EP, VE3SQG, VE3FZ will scout out the site shortly to determine optimum location to operate and erect antennas. More details at next meeting.

 

QARC MEETING:

 

VE3UO reported that the next QARC meeting. June 15,  will be at the Avaya EMI facility in Belleville. For security reasons it is critical that people proposing to attend advise the club in advance. See details on QARC website.

 

DAYTON REPORT:

 

VE3SQG, VA3KRV, VE3EP, VA3THB and VE3FZ reported that they had an excellent adventure going to Dayton this year. Unfortunately what happened in Dayton stayed in Dayton.

 

 

 

ARES REPORT:

 

VE3ZDG reported that he and VE3OCC completed a 2 day emergency course

- 7 of 10 people completed the IMS 100 course

-Preparation of a District Manual is underway

 

FIELD DAY:

 

There was a general and wide ranging discussion on Field day with the following conclusions and action items

 

-VE3OCC AND VE3UGT are arranging for the tractor and mower to groom the site before the event

- VE3OCC will originate the Field Day message to the Section Manager and send it to VA3WOW on 2m who will get it into the message system.

-VA3BRW will receive the annual Field Day message on RTTY and give it to VE3FZ for inclusion in the club's entry package

- The club executive suggested the purchase of a 35 foot fiberglass collapsible antenna

mast for use on Field day and other club events. The cost is $40.00.

ANNUAL CLUB PICNIC:

 

VE3FZ offered to host the annual PERC picnic at his home on Smith's Bay. The date of Saturday August 20th was agreed upon. The usual format of having the main course (burgers, dogs, sausages) provided by the club and attendees bring either munchies, salads or desserts will carry on.

 

VE3OCC won the 50/50 draw ($13.00)

The meeting was adjourned. Subsequently the computers being used for field day were networked via N!MM and tested. At the moment they are all talking to each other and there should be no problems on Field Day.
