Minutes of Prince Edward Radio Club – December 1st 2011

Art VE3SQG called the meeting to order at 7:32 pm
OPERATING ACTIVITY Ian VE3EP has received a DXCC Phone certificate and pin and is close to earning DXCC on CW. Art VE3SQG and Gilbert VA3NQ noted there had been a lot of 10m activity recently. The Monday night 6m net has not been active lately as Mike VE3OX has been busy with the licence course. There is a Buddipole DXpedition to St Lucia scheduled to start December 4th.
Approval of minutes meeting November 3rd 2011. Bill VA3WOW reported that the ARES meeting was listed as to be held on October 22nd. It should have been reported that it had taken place on that date. Moved: Kevin VA3THB Seconded: Al VE3FZ “That the minutes be accepted as amended. Carried
ARES Report Doug VE3ZDG spoke about the Deseronto table top exercise. Peter VE3UR and Tim VE3UO and Doug VE3ZDG attended.
REPEATER REPORT Ian VE3EP spoke about the backup battery at the repeater site. The APRS system does not operate when the back-up system is operating, the battery only operates the TJU repeater The Smart charger had failed and the battery fluid was evaporated. The repeater will now report when it is operating on battery backup. Ian VE3EP and Kevin VA3THB will raise the APRS antenna when they have time get up to the site.
TREASURERS REPORT
Al VE3FZ reported that the RAC insurance was now renewed.
