GUEST David Reid VE6BIR Minutes of the Meeting September 2 2010 President Art VE3SQG called the meeting to order at 7:35 pm and welcomed our Dave VE6BIR Peter VE3KWM and Keith VA3KRV to the meeting He asked who had interesting contact since our last meeting. Mike VE3OX noted he had been trying for a contact with Monaco, and Ian VE3EP said he had been successful in contacting south Korea on CW., everyone presented reported they were experiencing poor conditions at the moment. It was moved : “That the minutes of the June meeting be approved, with the addition of the missing date” by Tim VE3UO Seconded by Al VE3FZ CARRIED. OLD BUSINESS Mike VE3OX announced that he had six names for the Licensing course and had sent out emails but there had been no response. He is planning to start on Wednesday October 13th and run on Monday and Wednesday until November 29th with the exam being written on December 6th. The classroom is at the Belleville Police Children’s Safety Village. Tim VE3UO reported that the sale of equipment from the estate of VE3IVC and other donated equipment raised $2300 for Quinte ARC. Art VE3SQG passed out information from Eric VA3EP regarding the new web page at www.peradioclub.ca Eric has suggested that at a future meeting members have suggestions for additions or deletions from the site. CLUB PICNIC The members present commented on what a great time everyone had at the club picnic. A vote of thanks to Art and Betsy for the use of their home and to Kevin for being the club Chef was moved by Tim VE3UO and seconded Al VE3FZ CARRIED
ARES REPORT Peter VE3UR spoke about the Hilly 100 bicycle race in Bancroft on September 11th and asked for volunteers to help
with the communications, as the route goes as far as Foymount for some riders there are a lot of areas where cell coverage is poor or does not exist.
OLD BUSINESS Ian VE3EP told the members that he had asked for help obtaining a marine receiver for the Mariners Museum. He actually received five radios from Sean VE3YUF Keith picked them up and one was repaired and installed. The antenna at the museum needs work so Ian and Kevin will repair the coax. Peter VE3KWM asked if the changes in signal from VE3TJU were due to changes at the repeater site, or propagation. It was felt propagation was the main reason as no changes had been made at the site. Tim VE3UO asked about linking the PERC web pages to the QARC pages. It was decided this would be a good idea.
