Minutes of the Meeting December 2 2010

Members Present

President Art VE3SQG called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm

and asked about interesting DX, VE3FZ Al noted has made 21 contacts with ZL8X on various bands and modes. Al noted that the ZL8X crew were very well organized

Art got PJ2/K8LEE on 12 metres and reminded the members that in January there  will be the South Orkney Islands and the Spratly Island DXpeditions.

Doug VE3ZDG  spoke about a large circular track that can be seen on Google Earth at Port Petrie.

It was thought that it could be the remnants of  some kind of antenna system.

It was moved : by Joe VA3JLF  Seconded by Matt VE3OCC

“That the minutes of the November 4 meeting be approved”  CARRIED.

The class in Belleville will end on Monday, hopefully with four new hams.

 

OLD BUSINESS
Neither QARC or PERC have received information re RAC insurance.

There will be details emailed to the Clubs soon.

RAC Members will have increased coverage for their liability insurance , and personal equipment.

Radio and equipment loss/damage coverage will be added at competitive prices.

Details will be on the RAC web site.

CLUB PROJECT

David VE3STI noted that the  picaxe project parts are ordered, he passed around a picture of the parts in the kit.

The cost will be $35 or less please pay club treasurer Al VE3FZ

Members of the group will need a laptop and a serial port or USB to Serial` Converter.

Soldering equipment is needed for five minutes so it is probably better to do it at home rather than bring equipment to the meeting

It was decided we would work at the January 6th meeting after the AGM

Participants should bring a Laptop with a serial Port, and three AA batteries, to the meeting

David will bring a video projector and we can use the screen in the building.

ARES Report

 Doug spoke about the ARES exercise in Napanee and the Loyalist District meeting at Essroc

Bill VA3WOW announced that Doug VE3ZDG will act as Assistant DEC for a year in 2011 then Rod Ellis for 2012. The next two years, will be covered by representatives from Frontenac, and Hastings ARES.

There is a planned test of communications between Quinte Red Cross and Kingston Red Cross using VE3TJU

There is a null to the south of TJU and this may create a problem for a Kingston station that is in the south end of the city.

 CHRISTMAS PARTY

The annual PERC XMAS Dinner/Party is set for December 11th at the usual spot,
